Gospel station Web site to feature 'Church on Demand' By Jean Gordon Jenell Roberts is program director for Jackson's Hallelujah 95.5 FM. ON THE WEB www.hallelujah955. com. Jackson gospel station Hallelujah 95.5 FM will launch a new feature in January that will offer Internet users a chance to visit church anytime, anywhere. Called 'Church on Demand,' the station's Web site will feature video recordings of worship services from participating Jackson-area congregations. 'Everyone is on that computer,' said program director Jenell Roberts. 'It's a trendy thing nowadays.' Church on Demand is the brainchild of Hallelujah 95.5 FM sales manager Karen Porter, who said the feature will offer churches an alternative to TV ministries. Churches will pay $625 to post four half-hour programs, which will remain archived on the Web site for one month, Porter said. 'We're being able to spread God's word at any moment, at any time, at any day just by the click of the mouse,' Porter said. The station pitched the new feature to a group of Jackson-area ministers the week before Christmas. Porter said many expressed interest and thus far one church, World Overcomers Ministries in Jackson, has signed up. 'You don't have to wait for a particular date or time to get any good news or faith news as I like to call it,' said World Overcomers Ministries pastor the Rev. LeYonn Armstrong. Armstrong views the Internet as an extension of his church's media ministry, which includes 30-minute services broadcast on a public access cable channel three times a week. Because about a quarter of his congregation's 90 regular worshippers learned about the church through its TV ministry, Armstrong expects the Internet service could attract more members. 'It means more exposure,' he said. Hallelujah 95.5 FM vice president and general manager Kenny Windham said Church on Demand was first conceived as a way for churches to reach members who couldn't attend services. But he said the program would also allow church members to experience worship services while on the road or to share them with friends and family in other states. 'This extends it beyond the Jackson area,' Windham said. Spotlight: Bronner Brothers Bishop Dale C. Bronner The Bronner family has built an empire in hair care, but the key to their success isnt in their products. Its in their dedication to family. For more than 60 years, the Bronner family has consistently nurtured and strengthened the Atlanta community, and provided the tools of economic empowerment to African Americans throughout the country. The Bronners started out with $200 borrowed against the family farm by Nathaniel H. Bronner, the founder of Bronner Brothers. That $200 has become a multi-million-dollar business empire. From hair care to publishing, the Bronner name is synonymous with showcasing African Americans in a positive light.
More On The Bronner Brothers Legacy THE BRONNER FAMILY 60 YEARS OF COMMITMENT AND SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY Atlanta, GA (BlackNews.com) - In 1947 Nathaniel H. Bronner and his brother Arthur borrowed $200 against the family farm in South Georgia to start the Bronner Bros. Company. Today, the company has evolved and grown into one of the greatest success stories of the American spirit. Not only is the company an international leader in the beauty products industry, but also it has set a standard of integrity and public service that all businesses would do well to emulate. Nathaniel Bronner and the members of the family who have made Bronner Bros. what is it today have consistently nurtured and strengthened the Atlanta community and provided the tools of economic empowerment to African-American citizens throughout the country. Annually, the Bronner Bros. Conventions generate more than $50 million for the Atlanta economy, but the value of the company's talents, energies and devotion to the public welfare is truly inestimable. The Bronners have built an empire of hair care yet they have not lost their sense of being in touch with the common man. The sons were taught by their father 'to fear God and believe in Him, and no matter how difficult the problem or path they may encounter they had nothing to fear.' This philosophy has been passed from generation to generation and no doubt will be the profound teaching tool for generations to come. Bronner Bros. is known for its massive beauty and trade shows, which attracts up to 60,000 people to the Georgia World Congress Center. The sons, Nathaniel, Jr., Bernard, Dale, Charles, James and the late Darrow Bronner were taught well by their father all facets of the company. However, they all have outside interests that have kept them not only successful, but also very busy. Bernard, for instance, owns Upscale Magazine while Nathaniel and James owns Century Systems, a health products company. Charles, along with Nathaniel, Dale and James are all ministers. Bishop Dale Bronner heads the 9,000 members Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral in Austell. Nathaniel, Charles and James are ministers at the Ark of Salvation Church. All the Bronner brothers graduated from college, and the expectation is that their children will as well. Like their father, the Bronner sons are endowed with indomitable wills, keen abilities to judge human nature, an inborn love of their fellow man and a driving determination to succeed. However, it would be an unforgettable mistake not to include the lovely matriarch of the family, Mrs. Robbie Rutland Bronner. Mrs. Bronner is a tower of spiritual strength, and like her late husband, a wonderful motivator. A splendid sight to behold is to see this proud grandmother of 28 surrounded by her towering sons and the third generation of Bronners. Mrs. Bronner spends countless hours working with inner-city kids and their parents. She gives of her time and resources to those less fortunate who without hope or harmony otherwise would not make it in society. She has a strong spiritual faith and is a source of comfort to many not only in Atlanta but also throughout the nation. She is currently writing a book on the success of the Bronner family and the company. The year 2007 will mark the 60th anniversary of the Bronner Bros. Company. There will be an opening ceremony, parties, celebrities, groundbreaking ceremonies and tassels thrown throughout the convention celebrating this remarkable achievement. But, to the Bronners there will be moments of reflective thinking of how far they have come and what it took to achieve such a massive position...sixty years of steady climbing the success ladder while setting an example of peerless excellence born out of faith and bred out of solid character and great genius.
